History

So to start this off i think I'll fill you in on some background information. My family began when my husband and I got married at 19yo in 2003. We were already engaged, but had only been together for 2 years. We were high school sweethearts and had mutual friends since grade school. As a reservist in the Army, we quickly found out he was to deploy overseas in one week. So we decided to get married in 5 days. We had a small family wedding and he left for 6 months.
Upon his return, we moved to Kirksville, MO and attended Truman State University. I received my BA in Communications: journalism at 4 months pregnant with our first child. Emersen, was born Sept. 20, 2006, a month before her due date with no complications. She was a healthy baby girl and thriving to this day! She's a quiet child, who struggles with a speech delay. She's going to be our studious child, she loves reading and running around with "big" kids.
A month later my family moved back to Kansas City, MO, where my husband and I grew up. We purchased our first home in April of 2008 around the same time we found out my husband was due for a deployment, but we wouldn't be told when or where for a few months.
On June 2, 2008, we were given the gift of another baby girl, Jorrin, who was an active child in utero and is still very much an active child as we get ready to celebrate her 2nd birthday! She's hard-headed and very much a tom-boy, who loves to watch bugs and beat on her sister.
In Nov. 2008, my husband left the girls and I for his deployment to Ft. Hood, TX. He works at the blood donor center and enjoys his work. He made lots of friends and visited us every 3 months for 5-8 days, coming home for birthdays and Christmas, but he still missed out on a lot of growth for the girls and I. Our marriage grew stronger with each of us growing as individuals a few states apart.
We made the decision to move the girls and I down to TX in 2009, when Michael made the decision to extend his deployment for another year (at least until 11/2010). At the time my mother-in-law moved into our house and after Christmas we began the moving process. My mother-in-law lives in our house in KC to keep it up while we're gone and we currently rent a house in TX. A weird situation, I know!
In the 5 months we have been in TX now, the girls and I enjoy every second with Michael. We have explored a lot of different areas around here, and have plans for family vacations in the future! Michael and I celebrated our 7th anniversary in March by going zip lining and we enjoyed a night out without kids! :)

I think that brings us up to speed...more to come in the future which will help expand the background understanding of my family. I hope to blog about decisions in our family, activities and adventures we seek, and what the future holds for me and mine! Thank you for reading!
