Wow! How time flies! I was just trying to remember what all I did this weekend and really had to think...guess it's old age! :) Well, the Whiteley household grew in size, put more miles on our new van, and we earned a trip to Las Vegas for two!
So our weekend began a little differently than most weekends...we started out with the Rabbit Fest activities here in town (Copperas Cove). I don't quite know what the Rabbit Fest celebrates, but it's a huge festival they have annually and draws in more than 100,000 people...so it's huge for this small town! However, I was a little disappointed in the parade...See, I've only been to parades that you have to show up early to get the best seats, they last at least 1 hour and generally kids walk away with a decent amount of candy. Well, this one lasted at most 30 minutes, the kids each got 4 pieces of candy, and when we showed up early, there were very few people already there...I could have shown up 10 min. early and still had a great seat! So, oh well, not a huge deal...just a little disappointing!
Well, my friend had invited us to her BBQ, which fell through, because she had to take her daughter to the emergency room. Although it sucks for us not having a BBQ, I feel for her and her family as they still don't know what's wrong with their little girl and it's sad to me to watch them deal with their struggles! So, we rested, ate lunch, and then join the crowds for the festival 1 mile away from our house! IT WAS A ZOO! there were lots of people, but more so, there was a carnival, with carnival food, a petting zoo, which the girls loved, pony rides, which we let them do, and crafts, which I loved! (I found a really cute dress for the girls, they make it out of daddy's uniform and I hope to get them one soon, so they can wear it for the summer and then keep it as a piece of their daddy!) The girls and I also fell in love with these rabbits they were selling. They had all colors, sizes and breeds and I just wanted one to cuddle with! Michael stood his ground though and wouldn't let me have one! After that it was time to leave, and it was very hard to pull the girls away from all the bunnies!
So Sunday we spent the day driving 5 hours roundtrip to a place almost near San Antonio. The day prior, Michael signed us up to go listen to these people try to sell us a time-share in exchange for some gifts...so I agreed and went along. We were told this was a 90 minute thing and it turned out to be a 3 hour thing! So, needless to say, the girls were done, tired and bored...but so were we! We didn't get a timeshare, b/c we can't afford it. however we did get some pretty amazing prizes... We received 2 $40 prepaid american express cards, a 3 day/2 night trip to Vegas for 2 (hotel and airfare included) and a trip to 1 of 4 different tropical islands for 5 days/4 nights to include Puerto Rico and a couple others (I forgot). So, nothing too bad, just a waste of my time! When we returned home to have our newest family addition to arrive shortly after! We have added a 2 yo yellow lab, Stella, to our family. She joins Stetson, a mini-pincher, which has been with us for over 4 years. She's a good dog and has adjusted fine...more to come on her in the future, I'm sure!
Monday was our productive day! We got cement blocks to line our back fence line b/c Stetson is digging and we can't keep him in the yard. We got our phones fixed so we can now function with a bluetooth again...I really depend on my bluetooth when I'm with the kids...so then I can talk and handle my responsibilities. :) We played outside in the pool, went to lunch at a good cafeteria place around here (McAllisters), picked up some craft things at Hobby Lobby, daddy BBQ hamburgers for dinner and we let the kids play at Chuck E. cheese for a few hours to burn some energy. I refuse to go to CEC on the weekend and Emersen wants to take her daddy, so since he was off yesterday, we had the whole place to ourselves for 2 hours! It was great! The kids behaved greatly, so that topped the whole day off with a cherry! overall, we had a great weekend!
I let Emersen paint her fingernails by herself last night.
Jorrin's 2 yo temper has really flaired up this past week...she's more whiny and quick to throw a tantrum...that should be getting more fun!
Michael is working with Stella on her pottying on the floor issue.
I'm working on a new project where you put painted hand prints of everyone in the family on canvas boards for wall decorations! We shall see how they turn out...the paint takes forever to dry!!!!
